In this post, we share our 5 favourite baking recipes which we hope will inspire you during this lockdown. Baking is a joyful activity for all of us at Kitchen to Table. We all enjoy the process of baking something delicious and sharing it with family and friends. If you need a distraction during the lockdown, pop on an apron, preheat the oven and bake your favourite recipe.
Anzac biscuits or slice – this is a quick and easy recipe using ingredients from your pantry. It’s a melt-and-mix recipe so you just need a mixing bowl and spoon to bring the mixture together.
Friands – what’s not to love about these buttery, almond cakes? Once again this is a melt-and-mix recipe that keeps things nice and easy. Top these with your favourite berries, or a scattering of flaked almonds.
Spiced pumpkin & ginger muffins – a delicious option for morning tea, these muffins are flavoured with pumpkin and spices. They are a healthier option that is also gluten-free. They freeze well too, so bake a batch and store some in the freezer.
Whole orange cake – this quick and easy orange cake is perfect for morning or afternoon tea. It’s a trusted recipe from the CWA and is soft and moist and well flavoured from the whole orange. Yes, you use the whole, raw orange … skin, flesh and all! You’ll need a food processor or a blender for this recipe.
Seedy crackers – if you’re looking for a savoury bake, these seed crackers are great to have on hand to serve with dips and cheese or spread with nut butter for a satisfying snack. They are easy to make but I warn you they are very moreish. This recipe has been slightly adapted from one found in Lorna Jane’s Nourish cookbook.
