Looking for an enjoyable way to learn simple, delicious recipes you can recreate at home for family and friends?

Have a love for food and eating and want to become a more confident and creative cook?

Our cooking classes run from our home-style kitchen in Yamba NSW, and have a focus on locally sourced and seasonal produce. As avid supporters of local business ourselves, we look to purchase meat from the local butcher, fruit and vegetables from the local farmers market, and bread from the baker.

Cooking classes are led by me, Meredith. A self-taught cook who owns a kitchenware store with my husband Scott in the lovely beachside town of Yamba in Northern NSW.

How it started

Scott and I opened our store in 2007 as a way of providing Yamba and its visitors with a one stop shop for quality kitchenware, tableware and cookware. As an extension of this, the idea of a cooking school came to life. At first, we commissioned local chefs to present classes to our willing participants and this worked very well for a time.

Then in the early part of 2013 I stepped up to the plate and presented my first cooking class. It was a topic dear to my heart, baking. Something I love to do for relaxation and to share with others. The idea of presenting a class was daunting and it took a whole lot of inner courage to stand in front of those eager students and present food I loved to cook and eat. It sounds silly, doesn’t it? But most of us have a debilitating fear of public speaking.

I now have many years of presenting cooking classes in Yambe under my belt. It has certainly gotten easier, bolstered with the knowledge that I’m supported and encouraged by a growing band of wonderful home-cooks. They’re my driving force and inspiration, and push me each and every class to bring the best.
